TAGS/MOLES & WARTS
WHAT IS A TAG
- Tags are a common type of benign skin tumor, rarely found on younger people.
- Tags are typically your skin color.
- Tags consist of a fibro vascular core containing nerve cells.
- Tags can appear anywhere on the body where there is soft skin tissue and most commonly found on the face, neck and arm pits.
- Tags come in many shapes and sizes, most are small and elongated, some are horizontally raised
WHAT IS A MOLE
The three types of Moles:
- Common Nevi has a distinct edge, its coloration is pink, tan, or brown and is the type with the least risk of developing into cancerous melanoma.
- Dysplastic Nevi often has edges that are not perfectly round, they can be flat or raised and can also develop into cancerous melanoma.
- Congenital Nevi are moles that you are born with, or develop soon after birth, and is the type with highest risk of developing into cancerous melanoma.
WHAT IS A WART
Viral Warts (HPV)
- HPV is a contagious skin virus.
- Common warts are hard and rough, ¼” in diameter or smaller, typically occurring on the hands.
- Planters’ warts occur on the sole of the feet, usually covered by a callous.
- Genital warts are tiny and soft and are sexually transmitted.
Non-viral Warts (Seborrheic Keratosis)
- Commonly known as 'old age warts', they are a noncancerous (benign) tumor.
- Most common on men's head, back and shoulders, on women, it's mostly on the torso.
- Coloration is brown, black, gray and a mix of colors.
- Typically hard and rough, but there is a less common variety that is smooth.
- The causation is unknown, however they are often found within families.
